When architect start a new project with the aim to achieve sustainable building, they mean that they will use applications, strategies, and principles to reduce the environmental impact for the building itself and the occupancy of it, these strategies are divided into ways either passive or active energy systems. They both aim to reduce the impact through increasing the energy efficiency of the design and using the renewable energy resources.
Passive design strategies rely on climate and microclimate conditions, which aim to secure comfortable internal climatic conditions and to minimise energy consumption and utilize renewable energy sources through maintaining and controlling the temperature, humidity, ventilation and lighting of the interior, by taking advantage of external microclimatic conditions and passively collect, store and distribute gathered energy.
